Mac Cosmetics from the Mall
On a recent trip to the local shopping mall accompanied by a couple of friends we decided to stop at one of our favourite stores to check out the latest selection of mac cosmetics. Everytime I walk into this store I am just floored by the array of colours beaming from the display stands, it's no wonder that it catches the eye of potential customers who 9 times out of 10 end up purchasing something. Makeup sure has expanded itself somewhat and gone are the days where a bit of lippy, blush and minimal eye colour would do the trick. Now you have pre prep this and pre prep that to apply before even laying down your masterpiece. One of the friends who was with me is a pink fanatic and loves Mac lipsticks so off she went rummaging through all the pink shades for a good while as there were so many of them. She took forever, I mean how many shades of pink do you need - crazy stuff!
I'm pretty simple when it comes to makeup for myself, in fact I hardly wear it at all but when I do I tend to stick to the basics and like to use good quality products such as MAC, Estee Lauder and Dior. I choose them mainly for their long lasting effect, the feel of products whilst wearing them and of course the quality. As a youngster, my mother was very much how I am today and I barely saw her wear foundation. I was lucky enough to have an older sister who was very fashion conscious so that enabled me to pick up some tips off her and stand around for what seemed like hours watching closely as she applied her makeup in our bathroom mirror. Thank goodness she was around. We'd sit together and flip through the pages of glossy magazines or borrow some books from the library and experiment with makeup - some of the looks were successful whilst others were just plain scary and would probably best suit specific occassions such as halloween or amateur drag parties! I say "amateur" for the fact that I know of some amazing drag queens who look stunning all dolled up and honestly, they leave my make up application for dead!
So, after a good forty minutes in the store I find myself at the Mac counter making a single purchase on an item that:
- Was from the latest selection.
- I was intending on using it that evening.
- I simply just had to have it, right then and there!
Now... I am not usually like that as I have been nicknamed "Mrs Scrooge" several times as I do like to be the champ of all bargains. However, there were a couple of other items that I did fancy but seeing as they were apart of the M.A.C foundational range I knew I would be able to find them online for a much lower price than instore. They were not urgent items so I had plenty of time on my side. I am a regular shopper for online products and have found some great sites for all sorts of things which saves me alot of time and money. Of course, I still go instore to make purchases but it really does depend on the current situation or sometimes there is that element of touch that everyone likes to explore or satisfy their needs right at that moment.

Buy Mac Cosmetics from Rock the Catwalk
This is one of the best sites I have seen thus far for "authentic" mac cosmetics for sale at great prices. They regularly have one off deals in addition to their already discounted products so it's always good to keep an eye on there store. I am in no way affiliated with them and have chosen to promote them on my own accord based from personal experience.
- Based in the U.S.
- Prices are in U.S currency.
- Ships to anywhere in the world.
- Experienced sellers since 2006 with Rock the Catwalk created in 2009.
- Stockists of other discounted cosmetics such as Estee Lauder, Bobbi Brown, Clinique and Dior just to name a few.
- Payment accepted are credit card and paypal.
Be sure to check out their policy page to ensure that it is applicable for you.
MAC Cosmetics Channel
There is a great compilation of tips and guidelines available to view from the Mac Cosmetics Channel as seen on youtube with some very talented Senior Artists from M.A.C. I find their tutorials very useful and it's always a bonus to see the same actual products and tools that you may have already, shown in the clips as sometimes I do forget what goes where, what to do and all the rest of the what, where, how, when and why! I can always do with some refreshing every now and then so I find this channel a great way to keep up to date or good for reminders.
Hot Lips in RED!
Once upon a time I used to stay away from any bold and bright coloured shade of lipstick such as red, mainly because my attempts in first to apply and then pulling off such a vibrant colour had always failed. My finished look never quite met up to the same standard to those shot in the pages of vogue magazine or even some woman that I had seen out in public. Thanks to alot of practise and more practise and even more practise, I have now got it down to a fine art. This clip will certainly put you well on your way in achieving picture perfect red lips... the easy way!
The SHEER glam of Mineralize!
It is unfortunate that I have not been blessed with my grandmothers beautiful skin. It is so unfair... and I thought the good things skip a generation so I obviously missed out there! All the same, I shant condemn her, as she is my truest goddess in heart forever and a day. If all else fails as it has with me this clip will definitely assist you in creating a perfect finish for radiant skin on your face, eyes and cheeks!
Eyes up in SMOKE!
The first time I tried to do this myself I came out looking like a wild pitbull that had just lost terribly in a dogfight! Standing in front of the mirror with two big black eyes peering back at me there was nothing else to do but laugh at thyself. Go ahead and be a lot smarter than I and teach yourself the art of smouldering smoky eyes by watching this clip!
Cosmetics Online
We are all given the choice on whether to purchase cosmetics online or instore. At the end of the day, either way, if you really want to "buy" that particular item it's going to cost money. I was introduced to buying off the net from a friend of mine and I remember at the time thinking she was half mad. I had question after question about things like handing over my credit card details into a little pop up window, the reputation of the online company, the authenticity of the product, the quality, the shipping and why on earth was it so much cheaper than instore!
My first order online for cosmetics (fragrance) was absolutely disastrous! Not for me... for the poor company I had ordered from. My gosh, with the daily international phone calls and keeping in touch with my bank (to the point where I was on the verge of closing my account) the products arrived in less than a week. In all seriousness, I really should've been held up on harrassment charges from both the bank and the company, luckily for me that was not so. In an extreme state of pure anxiety I ripped open the package to find that everything contained within it was PERFECT and my previous expectations were instantly removed.
I must point out, that I didn't end up getting as good a bargain as what I had hoped because at the end of the month the phone bill arrived and oops... there were half a dozen international calls made to that company! What a plonker!
Anyway, I have had great success in purchasing cosmetics online but I am very frugal and investigate, research, read reviews and ensure to the best of my ability that I have ticked all boxes before ordering from someone new. As always, word of mouth is best and therefore I trust that the information that I have given on this hubpage has served you well.
